While certainly not seeing the volume of birds I would expect given the colder weather, we did have a few species in the yard today, including a First of Season Dark-Eyed Junco, and a new bird for our yard, the House Sparrow.
We see the Juncos throughout the winter, but today was the first day for this fall season that I noticed them, and we are glad to see them back. The other newcomer, the House Sparrow, not so much. We have been fortunate thus far that we have not had any in our yard, at least none that we've seen, but that, sadly, ended today. Hopefully they are just passing through to warmer climes.
